Beginning Astronomy

To begin observing the stars or planets, it is helpful to get an understanding of basics. The pages in this section can be taken in order to form a course, but can also be used as a reference. Included in this section is how objects orbit other objects, the effect of the sun and moon on the earth, the coordinate systems used in astronomy, an explanation of the different ways of measuring time, and the different terms used in astronomy. The main purpose of this section is to provide a foundation for understanding some of the terms used in astronomy.
